I Love Free Dog Food!

My shopping trip today resulted in this…

I got all of the above for $38.25, saving $71.53 in the process.

My biggest delight was the dog food which, after using this manufacturer coupon and this Target coupon, wound up free.  Remember to print two mfg coupons by hitting your browser’s back button.

Publix has the 3.5lb bags B1G1.  Each bag is $5.49.  Because Publix accepts competitor coupons, I was able to stack the Target and mfg coupons.  Woo Hoo!  We go through 50lbs of dog food each month, so this will really help us out a lot.

Now, I have to take a moment to brag about Publix.  And no, I’m not being paid to do this.  LOL

For weeks, I had read about the “Raise Your Hands for Savings” Publix coupon booklet, but my store did not carry them.  So, I called the 800 customer support number.  I had to leave a message, so I figured that I would be lucky if anyone called me back.

Folks, less than 15 minutes later, my phone rang, and it was a store representative.  She took my number and told me she would be in touch with a buyer responsible for putting out those booklets.

Two days later, the buyer called me back and took my mailing information (I also gave her Coupon Queen’s).  Two days later I found three booklets in my mailbox.

Impressive, I tell you.

That is how you maintain customer loyalty.

I am curious…have any of you gotten started couponing?  What tips have you discovered?  I think it’s great that we have the internet to share ideas and support one another!

  1. Yeah for the three doggies. I wanted to get a GF for my granddaughter in Ga. It was a tossup between Publix and Krogers. Krogers wanted to charge me for shipping, so I went with Publix. After not hearing from her for a week I found out she never received it. I called customer service, they apologized and immediately FedEx ed another one-no questions asked- you’re right’, ‘they know how to treat their customers.

  2. Thank you AuburnChick for the great information on coupon clipping. I’ll have to admit to you that I’ve read ALL of your blog since you started doing the coupons, but I’m a bit shy to leave comments.

I’m still trying to figure this coupon stuff out, and still a bit stumped on how to find coupons on the net, that my podunk town store ‘Brookshires’ might redeem. I don’t buy to many magazines, for I’ve no money for that kind of thing, and no big newspapers bought around this house. I’m sorta just stuck with online clipping, and as you know that runs into money for the ink, so any help along the lines of coupons for ink would be appreciated. Of course any common every day freebie grocery coupons link is/are a big help, too.

Thank you for sharing your coupon links and showing your coupon organizer, I love seeing your photos, and I enjoy your blog very much.

    • Hi Pat! I am so glad you commented! Please, do not be shy. Believe me…I am the kind of person you run into every day at your grocery store or church…nobody famous, that’s for sure! I just like to share the stuff that’s going on in my life. It helps to know that I’m not the only person who is fumbling my way through life.

I’m not sure what to tell you about printing coupons. I’ll admit that it’s definitely an added cost, and it’s a bit like gambling…hoping that you’ll be able to use the coupon later.

I have my printer set on draft mode so it uses the least amount of ink. That helps stretch it out a bit.

Regarding your local store accepting internet coupons…I don’t see why it wouldn’t if you have a manufacturer coupon. Stores get reimbursed by the manufacturers for the face value of the coupons used. So, stores don’t lose money. Stores like Publix that accept competitor coupons are eating the loss, banking on the fact that you’re in their store and will spend your money there instead of their competition.

Please, feel free to comment any time. I am so glad you are enjoying my blog, and I love receiving feedback!!

      Hugs, my Christian Sister!

  3. Thanks you AB, for the help about the ‘draft mode’ on the printer. I didn’t think about that, but that will be of help.

Yeah, I suppose you’re right about the bigger stores absorbing the cost of the coupons from the smaller ones. I’ll have to inquire at our hometown store on how they handle internet coupons. I understand that some stores don’t take them if they are from the net. I hope mine won’t be one of them. It’s just me and hubby, so I don’t have a big pantry to stock, but it’s nice to get a few dollars off.

I’ll try not to be to much a lurker, thanks again..

{Hugs} to you, and God Bless You
    Pat
