How To Save YouTube Videos

A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that I had learned how to save YouTube videos to my computer’s harddrive.

Credit must be given to Rooster for showing me how to do this…and yes, I realize that I am admitting a lot because I have always been the family’s Go-To-Gal for all things technological. My teaching job has put a dent in my computer-self-teaching time (along with my knitting time…my grocery shopping time…my cleaning time…the list goes on and on).

But, as usual, I digress.

Here are some basic instructions for how to download YouTube videos.

The easiest way to do this is to first go to the YouTube video you want to download.

In the url window (the window with the http://youtube… address), ADD in the letters pwn in front of the “youtube”.

For example:  http://www.pwnyoutube.com/watch?v=HJ39symeugw

Folks, there are lots of ways to skin a cat, but I’m giving you the easy way.  Computer experts will throw out all kinds of alternatives.  Let’s keep things simple.

Trust me.

Rooster thinks that the easiest way to go from this screen is to scroll down to “Convert to Other Formats.”  He says that the choices from this point forward are a little less complicated, and that’s what we like on this blog…uncomplicated (I am a Redneck to the core).

Under Covert to Other Formats, select mp4 — the one beside ClipCoverter (Rooster’s recommendation).

You’ll be taken to this page…

You’ll notice that the MP4 tab is already selected.

To keep things simple, accept the default options.

If you’re feeling more daring, start checking and unchecking options and see what you get.

Click Continue (upper right) beside the Media url box.

Next, you’ll need to select the quality of the outputted video.  I go with the default, which is the MP4 format.

Click Start when you’re ready.

It will take a few minutes to convert, depending on the length of your video.  When it’s finished, you will then be presented with the option to download the video.

And that’s all there is to it!

As always, I’m happy to be of service, and this just goes to prove that even bottled blondes do have some brains…enough, that is, to enlist the help of their teenage sons!

😉
