Really Random Wednesday Hodgepodge

I’m loving the very random questions this week, Joyce!  Play along…post your own answers and link back up with Joyce.

1.  It is officially fall here in North America.  What’s your favorite memory of Summer 2011?

Oh Joyce, do I have to pick just one?

I’m going to pick three (so sorry for breaking the rules).

The first memory is of finishing EPI…getting my final assignment grade and dancing to my heart’s content in the house…all by myself…to Katy Perry’s “Firework…”

The second memory is that of standing in front of Hubbard Glacier in Alaska.  In that moment, I realized how small I was, and how BIG God is…

The third memory is that of getting hired to teach Intensive Reading in my district’s public school system.  The circumstances were completely God-orchestrated, and I’ve been blessed beyond measure.

2.  Your favorite nut?  You know I mean the edible kind, right?

Hmmm…how about roasted pecans with sea salt thrown on them.  I grew up in the South and picked pecans until I couldn’t stand it.  Still, the pecans (not cooked in pie, mind you) make me happy!

3.  What activity puts your sense of balance to the test?

Cruising on the open seas.  Although I’ve been on four cruises, I don’t handle waves on an open sea too well.  Oh, I don’t get sick, but my sense of equilibrium is definitely thrown off.

4.  How would you describe your sense of humor?

My students would say that I don’t have one.  I, however, don’t think they appreciate the quirky, sarcastic humor that come out of my mouth.

5.  September 28th is National Ask a Stupid Question Day.  What’s your stupid question?

Question:  Did Jesus really die for humanity’s sins and rise from the grave?

Answer:  Duh…YES!!!

6.  Roller skates…hula hoop…jump rope…which activity would you most enjoy?  Yes, you have to choose.

I’ll say roller skates.  I loved it as a child and spent hours and hours going around the rink to 70’s and 80’s music.  I’d venture to bet that I could still roller skate if I wanted to.

7.  What’s your most sentimental possession?

My Bible.  It was given to me my senior year of high school, right after I was saved.  I lost it for about a year when we lived in South Florida, and I was heartbroken.  What a sweet reunion when the children’s director at my church found it.  I’ve got so many things highlighted and underlined…notes written from sermons that touched my heart.  It symbolizes my growth in Christ from babe to mature (somewhat) adult.

8.  My Random Thought

My love for my job continues to grow, despite the roller coaster ride my students have taken me on this week.  I feel myself challenged but growing thanks to the support of other reading teachers, a “certain” literacy coach, and administrators.  It’s so reassuring to KNOW that I’m where I belong.
