I Think I Got Cheated

A couple of nights ago I went shopping online for one of Soccer Chick’s Christmas presents.  She wants a new Chi flat iron.  If you’ve ever bought one of these, you know that they are expensive!  Being short of money, I am looking for the best price.

I headed on over to eBay to see what the sellers over there have and found a really good deal, so I “Purchased Now,” and proceeded to the check-out.

The next morning, I received an email from eBay explaining that the listing had been pulled from its site for various reasons…of which I, the purchaser, was not privy too.

Eh?  What’s this?  How come I can’t know why?  I mean, I paid for it!  I should at least be allowed to know why I can’t have it!

So, I went to PayPal to make sure I was going to get my money back.  This is where things are starting to get hairy.  My payment had already been processed, thanks to instant gratification via the internet.

Great.

I have attempted to contact the seller and haven’t heard back.  I have a strong suspicion that I won’t, so I’m going to open up a dispute to get my money back!

And I’m going shopping again.  This time I’ll shop from a store, pay a bit more, but be assured that I’m getting what I want.

  1. Sorry about your mishap with Ebay. I had a similiar experience last year but in my case it was a delay in shipping. I had ordered a christmas present for my dd in July and after many promises it was finally delivered in Dec. I wrote a negative comment and the seller kept after me to recend my comment. He was so nasty that he had me in tears. I have not used Ebay or paypal since. Hope you have better luck.

  2. I had a similar happen two years ago – with an outdoor Christmas lit decoration I attempted to buy. I bought it at a really good price (I was SO excited) and then received an email a few days later saying that unfortunately the item was out of stock so they did return my money and they said they would get more in time for the next Christmas season. Two days after that, I saw they had them again on eBay for FIFTY dollars more than I paid! Unfortunately, I had already given them neutral or decent feedback since I did get my money back but I wrote an email to eBay…never heard a word.

Be persistent…sometimes things happen. For instance, I bought a book recently and didn’t hear anything for almost two weeks and was upset and then the seller contacted me to say she just got out of the hospital after a fairly serious car accident. So sometimes there are reasons for being out of touch…but stay on top of it and just do your best.

    Good luck!
