Ok…had to post really quick.
A gal over on Knittinghelp.com read a post I wrote about the movie Twilight. She pointed out that the review I posted a link for is the WRONG movie! It had the same title but was WAY different!
What a ding-bat I am, eh?
I couldn’t find a review (Christian-based) of the NEW movie, so I read reviews about the book instead. I think I’m going to let Soccer Chick go to the movie under the admonition that she leave if there’s anything funny going on. I’ll offer to pay her back if she makes the choice to leave.
According to the book reviews, abstinence from sex before marriage is one of the underlying themes. Hmmm…interesting for the current day, eh?
I’ll give Soccer Chick the good news when she wakes up in the morning.
Sure is a good thing I didn’t call up her friend’s mom earlier, like I thought about. I can just hear tongues wagging at my dumbness.
“Yeah, AuburnChick has been hitting the bottle a little too hard these days. Gotta watch that one.”
I should probably go to bed now.

As is typical of most other girls her age, my step-daughter (age 17) is obsessed with anything Twilight at this point too. She has all the books, has read them multiple times and gets together with her friends to discuss all the characters.
If it is any consolation, we have decided to let her go see the movie with her friends. Both of her best friends have fairly strict Mormon upbringings, and their mothers closely scrutinize what they let their daughters attend and learn, and both of them are okay with the movie since it does talk about abstinence and acceptance.
Personally, I find vampire stuff totally creepy. Everyone says the books are great and I tried reading the first one, but I just don’t like the vampire theme. Ick.
Shoot – the girls in my youth group have got me addicted to Twilight & the whole series as well…. we’re all going to the movies tomorrow – already have 15 tickets ready to go!!! And yes – there is no hanky-panky going on – very enlighting for young girls to read…. any questions about it – I’ll tell you about it…. it’s just a fun teenage fantasy of the perfect boy who has “issues” – the love them, cant have them sort of thing…. these books are completely addicting! Cant wait to watch it with my girls – going to try & see what Biblical lessons I can get out of it for our next small group!!!
Here, at last, is a review of the movie:

Better late than never, if you want to discuss the movie, now you have something to guide the discussion.
Hugs,
