Friday’s “Done” List

A disclaimer about my small list…I was tired and a bit down in the dumps.  So, I didn’t aspire to get much accomplished.  I did get a second wind late afternoon, though…

Friday’s List

  • Fed dogs twice
  • Cleaned and refilled inside water bowl
  • Swept inside the house and the porch
  • Revamped my resume and job hunted online
  • Visited local Workforce Center for job referrals
  • Listened to Revive Our Hearts
  • Dusted lamp shades (see photo below)
  • Fixed Chicky’s dehumidifier – who knew that you had to clean the dust from where the air gets sucked in?!  It’s working properly now!
  • Vacuumed Chicky’s room
  • Scooped dog poop
  • Removed dry clothes from the line
  • Took out the trash
  • Watered plants inside and out
  • Made two bowls of chicken salad using two rotisserie chickens from Publix
  • Finished watching Heroes season online
  • Knit on my Leyburn Socks (I’m up to the leg now…almost done with Sock #1)
  • Read a few chapters of my book, Blowback

Now, a few photos.

You’ll probably remember the pictures I posted of the pile of tree branches beside the curb.  One of my online friends questioned whether the pile would get picked up.

Check out this wayyyy cool truck…

When he was done…

You know what this means?

Now I can start trimming the trees in the back yard!  Woo Hoo!

Oh, and I thought I would share a picture of my lamp shade…

That’s about six months worth of dust.  What a difference the extra effort makes!

Tuesday’s “Done” List

Continuing the theme from yesterday…

Tuesday’s List

  • Fed dogs twice (morning and evening)
  • Went to Sam’s for dog food and bones (a big thanks to the man who lifted the 50# bag in the car for me)
  • Bought new running shoes at Sports Authority
  • Ran to Target for laundry detergent and SOS Pads (Rooster, you can thank me for this one)
  • Dusted the main part of the house
  • Scooped poop
  • Mowed the front and back yards
  • Edged
  • Used the weed eater to finish things off
  • Watered my plants (thus ending three hours of working on the yard)
  • Cleaned bird poop from the mail box
  • Cleaned the mower
  • Dismantled the rusted pitch back and put the pieces in the garbage
  • Rolled the garbage can by the curb
  • Swept the porch
  • Listened to Revive Our Hearts
  • Listened to Knitting Rose (I’m now caught up on her podcasts)
  • Studied for English certification exam
  • Meditated on 1 Corinthians 1:18
  • Read some of my book before turning out the light

In the process of dusting, I discovered that we have a lot of movies…

I’m anal.  I took every movie off and dusted the shelves completely.  I even dusted the movies themselves before putting them back on the stands.  Now, they are organized alphabetically.  Movie and TV series are grouped separately.  There shouldn’t be any complaining when we can’t find what we want.  Chances are that the kids have them hidden away in their closets…

So, although the day started off slowly, I still managed to get quite a few tasks completed.

Mama, What Did You Do This Week?

I fully expect to hear the above question when the kids get home on Sunday.

Invariably, I hem and haw as I can’t for the life of me remember everything.  I seem to think that I must have a mile-long list to justify my time at home.  I know, in reality, this isn’t true, but that’s the way the kids make me feel.

So, I’m going to be typing up a list each day…a list to refer back to when they do ask the question.

Monday’s List

  • Went back to bed after dropping off the kids at church
  • Washed one load of towels and one load of regular clothes
  • Hung both loads of clothes on the line after taking previously dried clothes off the lines
  • Swept inside
  • Cleaned the dogs’ inside water bowl and refilled
  • Put away clean dishes that Rooster washed the day before
  • Weeded front yard and flower beds
  • Dusted and cleaned the master bedroom
  • Vacuumed master bedroom
  • Properly swept kids’ bathroom (actually went around the toilet too!)
  • Took out trash from bathrooms, kitchen, and bedroom
  • Cooked chicken breasts and stuck in the fridge.  The Mr. ate dinner out, so I didn’t finish cooking dinner.
  • Fed the dogs twice
  • Listened to Revive Our Hearts program
  • Listened to two of Knitting Rose’s podcasts while cleaning
  • Added Grandmama as a friend on Facebook
  • Loved on the dogs periodically throughout the day
  • Turned the heel on my sock
  • Watched Lost finale
  • Read a few chapters of the book Blowback, by Brad Thor

Nope…I didn’t do much today.  Maybe Tuesday will be better.

Who Wouldda Thunk

That you’re supposed to clean in places you can’t reach.

Take, for instance, the top of the fridge.

Here’s what I saw the other day when I went hunting for finery for the table I’m setting this weekend:

Um, yeah, kinda gross, eh?

Here’s a closeup of the wine bottles:

I would say I’m embarrassed, but that would be a lie.  Cleaning is not a priority in my life, and I rather doubt that Martha Stewart is going to be walking through my house any time soon.

It’s been a week of “Who Wouldda Thunks.”  Here’s another one for you…

Who wouldda thunk that you shouldn’t leave a dog and pillow in the same room, unsupervised?

Here’s a close-up of the damage Pele inflicted on the helpless head cushion:

I can’t blame him too much, though.  I think he had memories of a time when he was the proud owner of a stuffed gorilla.  He “loved” on it so much the stuffing magically “disappeared.”

A week of such “illuminations” can make one very tired.

What’s the solution to the above conclusions?
