I Feel Pretty

Boy do I know how to kick off summer vacation!

The last couple of days have been all about pampering.

On Friday, Barb and I had our nails done.  We had spent the evening before texting pictures of nail art back and forth to one another.

I wound up breaking three nails before my appointment the next day, so I opted for a new set of tips.  Although I usually keep my nails a little shorter because of all of the typing I have to do during the school year, I decided to keep them longer this time around.  Plus, keeping my nails longer would allow for a larger “canvas” for my nail tech to do her thing.

Boy did she do her thing!  Lookie…

Oh.  You might have noticed the ring.

Yeah.

It’s Sorrelli…Midnight Moon…to match the necklace, bracelet, and earrings I purchased on Thursday.

:::cough:::

Please take a moment to admire the fine details…

Sigh.

I do love pretty things…especially when there’s sparkle involved.

Here’s a closeup of the nails…

Pretty, eh?

My toes were still sporting red polish from my last trip to the salon.

That simply would not do.  I am of the firm opinion that fingernails MUST match with toenails.

I made an appointment for a pedicure and took Chicky with me to give her some pampering time as well.

Linda, the sweet gal who did my nails the day before, was working again, and she expertly matched my toes with her masterpiece from the day before…

Oh yes, I think the following song sums up my feelings at the moment…

It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Friday night, I stayed up until 1am.

The reason?

Lesson plans.

I had succeeded in completing my plans early the previous weekend, and I had really enjoyed having the rest of the weekend off, so I forced myself to repeat the routine.

I am so glad I did, for I woke up to this…

The Mr. and I headed out early to attend a pancake breakfast…a fundraiser for a local traveling basketball team.

Then we ran to Office Depot for a couple of boxes of glue sticks for a project my classes will be working on.

Before we headed home, we stopped at Kohl’s, one of my favorite stores, where I picked up this pair of shoes…

The Mr. also bought me a blouse that had caught my eye.

We made it home for lunch, and then I left again…this time for an afternoon of pampering.

I had spent some time on Pinterest…planning the next method of torture for my nail tech. She’s not fond of the designs I beg her to add each time I visit her.

She left after filling in my nails, and another girl painted them.,,

Does they look Spring/Summery to you?

Of course, I had to get my feet done too…

I was so relaxed.

I didn’t think much about work. In fact, I didn’t think much about anything but simply let my brain zone out.

I feel rejuvenated.

It was definitely a beautiful day in the neighborhood!

Time for Some Pampering, Shamrock Style!

This.

Has.

Been.

A.

Week.

My students are going nuts.

Parents are going nuts.

I’ve got so much coming up in the next two weeks that my stomach is in knots.

At least yesterday was Pay Day.

Plus, I turned in my New Teacher Induction Packet…a year-in-the-half-in-the-making portfolio that my district requires new teachers to complete.

Yeah.

I was ready for some pampering time.

Although I had scheduled a nail appointment for Saturday, I called and asked if there was anything for after school.

I’d had an interesting infuriating parent conference, and I needed to soothe my anger.

I love the ladies in my nail salon.

They always make me laugh, and they are always willing to try whatever artwork I’ve found on Pinterest.

Thus, when I left, I was sporting these…

Then, I stopped off at Publix and bought chips and dip.

And a Mt. Dew.

Then, I stopped at Starbucks and got a Venti Peppermint Hot Chocolate with Soy and No Whip.

It had been that kind of week.

The good news, besides that I have pretty nails and a thicker waistline?

Chicky is coming home for Spring Break.

I can’t wait to hug on her.

It will be a time of reminding myself to RELAX (my word for this year) and just trust God with the details.

Valentine’s Nails!

Thanks to Pinterest, nail technicians everywhere are cringing as beauty enthusiasts like myself rush through the doors of their salons, iPhones or Droids in hand…eager to show them the artwork we want painted on.

Such was the case last Friday.

Getting my nails done is a biweekly highlight of mine.

It’s fun that I don’t partake of alone as Barb has jumped on board.

We peruse Pinterest with giddy excitement, rubbing our hands together in anticipation of the torture we’re going to inflict on our poor nail lady.

It’s gotten to the point where my students, who are privy to my excitement the entire day of my appointment, show me their nails and the beautiful polish jobs their techs have done.

Oh, and lest we forget, the nails MUST match the season/holiday.

So, although I’m not a huge fan of Valentine’s Day (bah humbug), the holiday lends itself to some fun decorations, which found their way to my hands…

Just look at those polka dots and rhinestones!  It’s a sparkly bling bonanza!

Jealous?

Eat your heart out!

(pun intended…LOL)
