An Update on an Old Post

I’m not sure if you remember my post about buying Soccer Chick’s Chi on Ebay.

I thought you might like to know what became of it.

Well, I filed a claim with PayPal, and I escalated it so the issue would get resolved quicker.  Meanwhile, I waited.

And waited…

And waited.

In the meantime, I felt it prudent that I obtain this item through a more reliable source…Amazon, so I placed my order.

I received my Amazon order about a week later.

And a day later…

I found the Ebay iron waiting for me at the post office.

The country of origin was NOT the U.S.  It was China.  The seller had shipped it Express.  Although he had finally sent me a tracking number, I thought it was bogus because nothing came up when I plugged it into the post office’s tracking site.  Now I understood why.  You can’t track international packages.

I nearly fainted when I saw it.  Then, I went home and withdrew my claim.

Whatever will I do with two of these things?

I’ve considered that I could actually have my own for the rare instances when I lose my mind and decide to spend an hour working on my hair.

Then again, I’ll probably just resell it on Ebay.  Anyone need a Chi Flat Iron?

I Think I Got Cheated

A couple of nights ago I went shopping online for one of Soccer Chick’s Christmas presents.  She wants a new Chi flat iron.  If you’ve ever bought one of these, you know that they are expensive!  Being short of money, I am looking for the best price.

I headed on over to eBay to see what the sellers over there have and found a really good deal, so I “Purchased Now,” and proceeded to the check-out.

The next morning, I received an email from eBay explaining that the listing had been pulled from its site for various reasons…of which I, the purchaser, was not privy too.

Eh?  What’s this?  How come I can’t know why?  I mean, I paid for it!  I should at least be allowed to know why I can’t have it!

So, I went to PayPal to make sure I was going to get my money back.  This is where things are starting to get hairy.  My payment had already been processed, thanks to instant gratification via the internet.

Great.

I have attempted to contact the seller and haven’t heard back.  I have a strong suspicion that I won’t, so I’m going to open up a dispute to get my money back!

And I’m going shopping again.  This time I’ll shop from a store, pay a bit more, but be assured that I’m getting what I want.

The Decorating is Complete!

Soccer Chick and I attended church this morning.  One of the songs we sang was this:

The chorus moved me to tears today.  Well, okay…it always moves me to tears.  The thought that my King knows me, calls me by name and welcomes me with open arms…

How can you not be blown away by that kind of love?

After church, we went back home and buried Caddilac.  It was the third pet we’ve said goodbye to in a little less than a year.  In Mr. AuburnChick’s words, “I’m tired of burying pets.”

Me too!

Shortly after that, Soccer Chick and Mr. AuburnChick left for her soccer practice…held at a location two hours away.  Yeah, we’re nuts, but you do what you have to for your kids.  The team is getting ready for a tournament it will be playing in after Christmas, and Sundays are the only day the girls can practice together with high school season fully under way.

That left Rooster and me at home by ourselves.  He and I are such a pair!  He asked if we could set up my Christmas village.  It’s a lot of work, but I gave him the green light.  I don’t know what it is about my village, but he’s loved it ever since he was little.  As he’s grown older, I’ve allowed him to participate more actively in its setup.

Of course, being a teen, he quit halfway through, leaving me to finish.  Here are some pictures…

My in-laws gave me the starter box the second year that the Mr. and I were married.  Target originally sold the pieces, and each year I received gifts of more houses and accessories.  We used to buy them right before Christmas, when the store had marked them down.  Of course, Target quit selling the line a few years ago, leaving me with a train but no train station.  Enter in eBay!  I bought quite a few pieces a few years ago.  Mr. AuburnChick was not amused.  It has taken up my entire dining room table.

Here are close-ups of the pieces…

After setting up the village, I decided that it was time to finish putting ornaments on the tree.  Here’s a couple of pictures of the tree and village (I used the “Night Portrait” setting for the first picture):

So, the decorating is finished, and a home has been found for almost all of the “regular” house stuff that was displaced.

Let the holidays begin!
