AuburnChick Shares a Favorite Christmas Memory

With this being the first day of December, I thought it would be fun to share a favorite Christmas memory every day leading to the BIG day.  I’ve been thinking about this for the last few days…sifting through highlights in my mind.  Which ones to share?  Fun, fun, fun!  I hope you enjoy them!

Day 1 – Holiday Memory

My parents divorced when I was very young.  I believe my sister and I spent only one Christmas with my dad.  That Christmas, there were TONS of presents under the tree!  There was one very large gift way far back, behind the tree.  I couldn’t believe it when I heard Dad call out my name and hand it to me.

It was a dollhouse.  A lovely, wooden dollhouse.  Not the plastic kind the stores sell nowadays.

The house was completely open on one side, and all of the rooms were empty.

After opening the dollhouse, there were lots of other gifts to open.  Every single thing I opened afterward was a piece for the house.  I was strangely disappointed when, after about the 20th present, I caught on to the fact that all of my gifts would be house accessories.   Who knows…I might have gotten a little something different, but all I can remember is, “Oh, look, a kitchen table.  Oh, and look at the couch.”

Looking back, I can see that it truly was a unique gift.  My dad was a wonderful gift-giver.
